Stepped Well in Ahmedabad - one of most intricately carved architecture I've seen...story has it that when Moguls captured the local town, the emperor asked the queen to marry him. She agreed but on the condition that he complete the construction of a well so the people would have water. He had the stepped well - build on5-6 storeys deep and across for the queen. The queen then committed Jal Samadhi in the well to escape marrying the emperor!
