These Indian village women are hardworkers

I also heard that the men drink and while their time away. The women take care of their children by slogging it out. Sad!

Loved his earrings. He hitched a ride with us from some place on the Rann of Kutch close to Dholavira...he had a cell phone and we were pleasantly surprised that technology had reached the farthest corners of the country!

Two Little Girls getting on a Train

Great Sand Dunes Park, Colorado

One of the most amazing experiences of my life. The landscape was dominated by these giant sand dunes and cradled in the midst of a ring of Rocky Mountains. The wind was so strong, we had to walk up the dunes with goggles on to protect our eyes. We managed only up the first dune because each step was like walking a mile.

Snowmobiling at 13000 ft (New mexico)

Last year. Visit to the Ski resort, Taos, located at the border of New Mexico and Colorado. Took a 2 hour snow-mobile tour up to 13000 ft. Amazing experience riding that machine through narrow trails overlooking the slopes of the Rocky Mountains.

The view from the window

Driving through the busy streets of Ahmedabad, I came across this autorickshaw with two girls, their faces stuck to the window, smiling back at me.

The Lost City (3200 BC)

Lothal was part of the Indus Valley Civilization. The city outlay and the brick houses were so finely designed, it could easily be confused with a modern town, complete with two room homes and an underground drainage system

Lucky Tea Stall - MF Hussain Painting

Lucky Tea Stall in Ahmedabad - the painting behind was painted my M.F Hussain and gifted to the tea shop (whichHussain used to frequent)

No Seat Belts In India

No Seat Belts here in India! shot in Ahmedabad on the way to Lothal.

Train Journeys - waiting at a signal light

Train journey from Samakhiali (Dholavira) to Ahmedabad -
Train journeys are always fun. The numerous stops afford you plenty of photo ops ...here the train had stopped at a signal waiting for another train that had an engine failure on the next track!

The Palace of Utelia

Palace of Utelia:

Visiting the Indus Valley site at Lothal, we stayed overnight at the Palace of Utelia a few miles from the excavations...
It felt great to be staying at a real palace and converse with the prince of the palace, Bhageerath. We got to chat on various topics including the local Gujarat Politics, Modi, the plight of the local villagers...we also got to see the princely painting collection and took a tour of the palace and the village outside the palace.
